Roberta Sutherland

Roberta Sutherland was born and raised on the West Coast of British Columbia, never far from the seaside. She studied at the Emily Carr School of Art and Drawing and received her BFA diploma at the University from Victoria in Canada.

His experiences include: his work with Oxfam in East Africa, the study of printmaking in the United Kingdom and the study of Zen and calligraphy in Japan. She was a resident in the painting department at the Banff Center and at the Bau Institute in Italy. She served as a mentor at the International Summer Art School in Metchosin.

Roberta’s work is in the collections of the Canada Art Council and numerous public galleries. Her inspiration comes from Jack Wise and the North West School. All her life she was fascinated by the forms of nature and their repetition in all of creation.

She lives and works in Grassy Point on Hornby Island in British Columbia and maintains a workshop in Baja, Mexico.
