Joan

Miró

Catalonian

1893 - 1983

Joan Miró

Joan Miró was a Spanish painter, sculptor, engraver and ceramist born in Barcelona on April 20, 1893 and died in Palma de Mallorca on December 25, 1983 (aged 90). Defining himself above all as “international Catalan” he is one of the main representatives of the surrealist movement.

An example of genius, originality and thoroughness, Joan Miró showed throughout his creation the true role of the contemporary artist and has kept his sense of dignity unscathed.

“Above all, I wanted to keep absolute and total freedom. Let no one impose a line on me, “Joan Miró.
